Knockdown ceiling removal in Discovery Ridge for a clean modern ceiling

Nothing dates a Discovery Ridge room like splatter or knockdown texture — and every ridge traps dust and cobwebs. In Discovery Ridge we remove dated knockdown texture and refinish the ceiling — either skimmed dead-flat to a smooth modern look or re-textured cleanly. Discovery Ridge is a newer SW Calgary community where finishing and basement-development drywall are common, so the knockdown work here is usually refresh and resurfacing before a repaint. We cover Discovery Ridge, Aspen Woods, West Springs, Cougar Ridge and every Calgary quadrant, 7 days a week.

What affects the cost of knockdown ceiling removal in Discovery Ridge?

Area, finish and condition

The cost in Discovery Ridge depends on the ceiling area, the finish you want (a dead-flat Level 5 takes more skim work than a re-texture), and the condition underneath — cracks or stains found once the texture is off add a little time. We assess on site and price it before we start.

Skim flat vs re-texture in Discovery Ridge

Most homeowners here go flat for a modern look, but we also re-texture cleanly if you prefer. We tell you what each option involves so you can choose for your Discovery Ridge ceiling. In Discovery Ridge basements the deciding detail is usually access: what has to stay reachable once the ceiling is closed up.

Our Discovery Ridge knockdown removal process, step by step

Mask, protect and scrape

Knockdown removal in Discovery Ridge is messy if it is done wrong, so we mask walls, mask off the room and protect floors first, then scrape the texture cleanly back to the board.

Skim, sand and finish

With the texture off, we repair any cracks or stains, then skim the ceiling flat in coats with full drying time, sand and check under raking light — or apply a clean new texture if that is what you chose. We leave Discovery Ridge homes with a primer-ready ceiling and a spotless room. A lot of our Discovery Ridge work starts in the basement, where the ceiling has to stay openable for the plumbing above it.

Skim flat or re-texture? What suits your Discovery Ridge ceiling

Flat, modern ceilings

A dead-flat ceiling is the current look and the one most Discovery Ridge homeowners choose when they remove knockdown — it makes a room feel larger and cleaner.

A fresh, consistent texture

If you prefer texture, we can apply a clean knockdown or a lighter finish that is even across the whole ceiling, rather than the dated, heavy splatter that is there now. Both come up here. Basement development is common in Discovery Ridge, and a basement behaves differently from the rest of the house — cooler, damper, and less forgiving of a rushed finish.

Common knockdown removal situations in Discovery Ridge

Discovery Ridge's 2000s homes bring settling repairs, basement development, and Level 5 finishing — and, bordering Griffith Woods and the Elbow River, the occasional water-damage repair owners want blended invisibly. Assessed on site, priced up front, and finished properly — every time.

Why Discovery Ridge homeowners trust Emplastrum for knockdown removal

A clean flat finish, finished to the light

The skim after the scrape is where a ceiling is made or ruined, and finishing is our specialty — a flat ceiling in Discovery Ridge is finished to the raking light your paint will see.

Fixed price, same-day reply

We remove knockdown ceilings across Discovery Ridge and every Calgary quadrant, 7 days a week. You get the Discovery Ridge number before we start, contained dust, a clean room after, and backed work. Any issue on a Discovery Ridge job earns a return trip and a proper fix. In Discovery Ridge basements the deciding detail is usually access: what has to stay reachable once the ceiling is closed up.
