Knockdown ceiling removal in SE Calgary for a clean modern ceiling

Nothing dates an SE Calgary room like splatter or knockdown texture — and every ridge traps dust and cobwebs. In SE Calgary we remove dated knockdown texture and refinish the ceiling — either skimmed dead-flat to a smooth modern look or re-textured cleanly. SE Calgary is including newer lake communities like Mahogany, Auburn Bay and Cranston alongside established areas, so the knockdown work here is usually refresh and resurfacing before a repaint. We cover all of SE Calgary, 7 days a week.

What affects the cost of knockdown ceiling removal in SE Calgary?

Area, finish and condition

The cost in SE Calgary depends on the ceiling area, the finish you want (a dead-flat Level 5 takes more skim work than a re-texture), and the condition underneath — cracks or stains found once the texture is off add a little time. We assess on site and price it before we start.

Skim flat vs re-texture in SE Calgary

Most homeowners here go flat for a modern look, but we also re-texture cleanly if you prefer. We tell you what each option involves so you can choose for your SE Calgary ceiling.

Our SE Calgary knockdown removal process, step by step

Mask, protect and scrape

Knockdown removal in SE Calgary is messy if it is done wrong, so we mask walls, mask off the room and protect floors first, then scrape the texture cleanly back to the board.

Skim, sand and finish

With the texture off, we repair any cracks or stains, then skim the ceiling flat in coats with full drying time, sand and check under raking light — or apply a clean new texture if that is what you chose. We leave SE Calgary homes with a primer-ready ceiling and a spotless room.

Skim flat or re-texture? What suits your SE Calgary ceiling

Flat, modern ceilings

A dead-flat ceiling is the current look and the one most SE Calgary homeowners choose when they remove knockdown — it makes a room feel larger and cleaner.

A fresh, consistent texture

If you prefer texture, we can apply a clean knockdown or a lighter finish that is even across the whole ceiling, rather than the dated, heavy splatter that is there now. Both come up here.

Common knockdown removal situations in SE Calgary

Pre-repaint refresh

Most knockdown removal here happens before a repaint or a room refresh, when the dated ceiling is the last thing making a renovated room look old.

Whole-home modernising

In SE Calgary homes being updated, we often do the ceilings room by room to a consistent flat finish, and can handle related popcorn ceiling removal and ceiling repair in the same visit.

Why SE Calgary homeowners trust Emplastrum for knockdown removal

The skim after the scrape is where a ceiling is made or ruined, and finishing is our specialty — a flat ceiling in SE Calgary is finished to the raking light your paint will see.
