Knockdown ceiling removal in St. Andrews Heights for a clean modern ceiling

A textured splatter ceiling makes a St. Andrews Heights room feel old while its ridges gather dust and cobwebs. In St. Andrews Heights we remove dated knockdown texture and refinish the ceiling — either skimmed dead-flat to a smooth modern look or re-textured cleanly. St. Andrews Heights is an older NW Calgary community where settling cracks, aging texture and the occasional plaster repair come up, so the knockdown work here is usually refresh and resurfacing before a repaint. We cover St. Andrews Heights, Brentwood, Charleswood, Collingwood and every Calgary quadrant, 7 days a week.

What affects the cost of knockdown ceiling removal in St. Andrews Heights in Calgary?

Area, finish and condition

The cost in St. Andrews Heights depends on the ceiling area, the finish you want (a dead-flat Level 5 takes more skim work than a re-texture), and the condition underneath — cracks or stains found once the texture is off add a little time. We assess on site and price it before we start.

Skim flat vs re-texture in St. Andrews Heights

Most homeowners here go flat for a modern look, but we also re-texture cleanly if you prefer. We tell you what each option involves so you can choose for your St. Andrews Heights ceiling.

Our St. Andrews Heights knockdown removal process, step by step

Mask, protect and scrape

Knockdown removal in St. Andrews Heights is messy if it is done wrong, so we mask walls, mask off the room and protect floors first, then scrape the texture cleanly back to the board.

Skim, sand and finish

With the texture off, we repair any cracks or stains, then skim the ceiling flat in coats with full drying time, sand and check under raking light — or apply a clean new texture if that is what you chose. Your St. Andrews Heights ceiling is ready for primer and the room is cleaned before we go. St. Andrews Heights spans a range of build eras, so what is behind the wall differs street to street.

Skim flat or re-texture? What suits your St. Andrews Heights ceiling

Flat, modern ceilings

A dead-flat ceiling is the current look and the one most St. Andrews Heights homeowners choose when they remove knockdown — it makes a room feel larger and cleaner.

A fresh, consistent texture

If you prefer texture, we can apply a clean knockdown or a lighter finish that is even across the whole ceiling, rather than the dated, heavy splatter that is there now. Both come up here. In St. Andrews Heights we see everything from original finishes to recent renovations on the same block.

Common knockdown removal situations in St. Andrews Heights

In St. Andrews Heights, renovations in St Andrews Heights regularly turn up surprises behind the walls — old wiring chases, filled-in doorways, mismatched patch jobs from decades past — and we work around all of it rather than assuming a clean, modern wall cavity. One fixed price after an honest on-site look, and the job done right the first time.
