Do you remove knockdown ceilings in Bonavista Downs?

Yes — Bonavista Downs is part of our regular service area and we are usually booked within the week. We also cover Mahogany, Auburn Bay, Cranston and every Calgary quadrant.

Is knockdown ceiling removal messy?

Done carelessly it is — which is why every Bonavista Downs room gets masked, protected and dust-controlled. We leave your Bonavista Downs home clean.

Can you make the ceiling completely flat?

Yes — after removing the texture in Bonavista Downs we skim to a flat Level 4 or Level 5, ready for paint. Or we apply a clean new texture on your Bonavista Downs ceiling if you prefer.

Can you fix cracks while the texture is off in my Bonavista Downs home?

Yes — with the knockdown off in Bonavista Downs, cracks, nail pops and stains are repaired before the skim, so the finished ceiling is clean and sound.

Do you stand behind your knockdown removal in Bonavista Downs?

Yes. We walk every Bonavista Downs ceiling with you under raking light before we pack up, and if something is not right we come back and make it right.

Our Bonavista Downs ceiling cracks along the same line every winter — why?

That's typically truss uplift — the roof trusses lift slightly in cold, dry months and open a crack at the ceiling/wall joint. We repair it and can finish it so it's far less likely to telegraph back.

Knockdown ceiling removal in Bonavista Downs for a clean modern ceiling

Knockdown and splatter ceilings date a Bonavista Downs room and catch dust and cobwebs in every ridge. In Bonavista Downs we remove dated knockdown texture and refinish the ceiling — either skimmed dead-flat to a smooth modern look or re-textured cleanly. Bonavista Downs is a mature SE Calgary community where reno drywall and ceiling work are the usual calls, so the knockdown work here is usually refresh and resurfacing before a repaint. We cover Bonavista Downs, Mahogany, Auburn Bay, Cranston and every Calgary quadrant, 7 days a week.

What affects the cost of knockdown ceiling removal in Bonavista Downs?

Area, finish and condition

The cost in Bonavista Downs depends on the ceiling area, the finish you want (a dead-flat Level 5 takes more skim work than a re-texture), and the condition underneath — cracks or stains found once the texture is off add a little time. We assess on site and price it before we start.

Skim flat vs re-texture in Bonavista Downs

Most homeowners here go flat for a modern look, but we also re-texture cleanly if you prefer. We tell you what each option involves so you can choose for your Bonavista Downs ceiling.

Our Bonavista Downs knockdown removal process, step by step

Mask, protect and scrape

Knockdown removal in Bonavista Downs is messy if it is done wrong, so we mask walls, mask off the room and protect floors first, then scrape the texture cleanly back to the board.

Skim, sand and finish

With the texture off, we repair any cracks or stains, then skim the ceiling flat in coats with full drying time, sand and check under raking light — or apply a clean new texture if that is what you chose. The Bonavista Downs ceiling leaves primed-ready and the room leaves clean. Where Bonavista Downs still has stipple, we check how many coats are on it before deciding to match or remove.

Skim flat or re-texture? What suits your Bonavista Downs ceiling

Flat, modern ceilings

A dead-flat ceiling is the current look and the one most Bonavista Downs homeowners choose when they remove knockdown — it makes a room feel larger and cleaner.

A fresh, consistent texture

If you prefer texture, we can apply a clean knockdown or a lighter finish that is even across the whole ceiling, rather than the dated, heavy splatter that is there now. Both come up here. Where Bonavista Downs still has stipple, we check how many coats are on it before deciding to match or remove.

Common knockdown removal situations in Bonavista Downs

Bonavista Downs's original stipple ceilings are a common target for our crews — we scrape and skim them to a smooth flat finish in a day or two per room, then match the wall texture around the room's perimeter so the transition disappears. One fixed price after an honest on-site look, and the job done right the first time.

Why Bonavista Downs homeowners trust Emplastrum for knockdown removal

A clean flat finish, finished to the light

The skim after the scrape is where a ceiling is made or ruined, and finishing is our specialty — a flat ceiling in Bonavista Downs is finished to the raking light your paint will see.
