Knockdown ceiling removal in Summerhill for a clean modern ceiling

Knockdown and splatter ceilings date a Summerhill room and catch dust and cobwebs in every ridge. In Summerhill we remove dated knockdown texture and refinish the ceiling — either skimmed dead-flat to a smooth modern look or re-textured cleanly. Summerhill is an established Airdrie community where reno, repair and ceiling drywall are common, so the knockdown work here is usually refresh and resurfacing before a repaint. We cover Summerhill and all of Airdrie, 7 days a week.

What affects the cost of knockdown ceiling removal in Summerhill?

Area, finish and condition

The cost in Summerhill depends on the ceiling area, the finish you want (a dead-flat Level 5 takes more skim work than a re-texture), and the condition underneath — cracks or stains found once the texture is off add a little time. We assess on site and price it before we start.

Skim flat vs re-texture in Summerhill

Most homeowners here go flat for a modern look, but we also re-texture cleanly if you prefer. We tell you what each option involves so you can choose for your Summerhill ceiling. Housing in Summerhill is mixed, which is why we look before we quote rather than after.

Our Summerhill knockdown removal process, step by step

Mask, protect and scrape

Knockdown removal in Summerhill is messy if it is done wrong, so we mask walls, mask off the room and protect floors first, then scrape the texture cleanly back to the board.

Skim, sand and finish

With the texture off, we repair any cracks or stains, then skim the ceiling flat in coats with full drying time, sand and check under raking light — or apply a clean new texture if that is what you chose. The Summerhill ceiling leaves primed-ready and the room leaves clean. Summerhill spans a range of build eras, so what is behind the wall differs street to street.

Skim flat or re-texture? What suits your Summerhill ceiling

Flat, modern ceilings

A dead-flat ceiling is the current look and the one most Summerhill homeowners choose when they remove knockdown — it makes a room feel larger and cleaner.

A fresh, consistent texture

If you prefer texture, we can apply a clean knockdown or a lighter finish that is even across the whole ceiling, rather than the dated, heavy splatter that is there now. Both come up here. In Summerhill we see everything from original finishes to recent renovations on the same block.

Common knockdown removal situations in Summerhill

In Summerhill, serving Summerhill seven days a week, we take on drywall jobs big and small. We smooth builder-grade and patched walls up to a flawless Level 5 finish before repainting. We patch, texture-match, prime and paint in one visit so the wall looks completely finished. Fast, clean and paint-ready, most repairs in a single visit. One fixed price after an honest on-site look, and the job done right the first time.

Why Summerhill homeowners trust Emplastrum for knockdown removal
