Knockdown ceiling removal in Canals for a clean modern ceiling

Knockdown and splatter ceilings date a Canals room and catch dust and cobwebs in every ridge. In Canals we remove dated knockdown texture and refinish the ceiling — either skimmed dead-flat to a smooth modern look or re-textured cleanly. Canals is an established Airdrie community where reno, repair and ceiling drywall are common, so the knockdown work here is usually refresh and resurfacing before a repaint. We cover Canals and all of Airdrie, 7 days a week.

What affects the cost of knockdown ceiling removal in Canals?

Area, finish and condition

The cost in Canals depends on the ceiling area, the finish you want (a dead-flat Level 5 takes more skim work than a re-texture), and the condition underneath — cracks or stains found once the texture is off add a little time. We assess on site and price it before we start.

Skim flat vs re-texture in Canals

Most homeowners here go flat for a modern look, but we also re-texture cleanly if you prefer. We tell you what each option involves so you can choose for your Canals ceiling. In Canals basements the deciding detail is usually access: what has to stay reachable once the ceiling is closed up.

Our Canals knockdown removal process, step by step

Mask, protect and scrape

Knockdown removal in Canals is messy if it is done wrong, so we mask walls, mask off the room and protect floors first, then scrape the texture cleanly back to the board.

Skim, sand and finish

With the texture off, we repair any cracks or stains, then skim the ceiling flat in coats with full drying time, sand and check under raking light — or apply a clean new texture if that is what you chose. The Canals ceiling leaves primed-ready and the room leaves clean. A lot of our Canals work starts in the basement, where the ceiling has to stay openable for the plumbing above it.

Skim flat or re-texture? What suits your Canals ceiling

Flat, modern ceilings

A dead-flat ceiling is the current look and the one most Canals homeowners choose when they remove knockdown — it makes a room feel larger and cleaner.

A fresh, consistent texture

If you prefer texture, we can apply a clean knockdown or a lighter finish that is even across the whole ceiling, rather than the dated, heavy splatter that is there now. Both come up here. A lot of our Canals work starts in the basement, where the ceiling has to stay openable for the plumbing above it.

Common knockdown removal situations in Canals

In Canals, from the first patch to a finished basement, Canals is one of the areas we serve every week. We repair holes, stress cracks, nail pops and water stains, then texture-match so the fix disappears. We smooth builder-grade and patched walls up to a flawless Level 5 finish before repainting. Free on-site quotes, and a real fixed price with no guessing after. One fixed price after an honest on-site look, and the job done right the first time.
