Edgemont's late-1980s and 1990s homes are the sweet spot for ceiling repair calls -- settlement cracks, stipple ceilings, and plaster work from an era when homes were built differently.
Edgemont is one of NW Calgary's more established mature communities. Homes here were mostly built between the late 1980s and mid-1990s -- which means 30-40 years of Alberta freeze-thaw cycles, settling, and use. Ceiling cracks in Edgemont tend to be more developed than in newer communities: longer runs, wider gaps at header locations, and sometimes multiple repaired-and-reopened cracks that have been patched before but never properly taped and mudded.
Edgemont also has a lot of full-ceiling skim work -- homeowners who are repainting or renovating want a fresh surface rather than patching individual cracks. When there are 8 cracks in a living room ceiling, a full skim coat is often the right call over patching each one individually.
Pre-1990 Edgemont ceilings may have stipple texture. If you're looking to remove it, we also do popcorn ceiling removal -- but pre-1990 homes should asbestos test first, which we'll explain at the quote.
