NW Calgary's wide range of home ages makes it the most varied skim-coating market in Calgary. In the mature communities (Bowness, Silver Springs, Hawkwood, Ranchlands, Edgemont, Dalhousie -- homes from the 1970s through the 1990s), skim coating is often chosen as an alternative to individual crack repairs when there are too many to patch economically, or to flatten stipple and knockdown ceilings that have aged past the point where texture-matching looks right.
In the newer NW communities (Tuscany, Royal Oak, Evanston, Sage Hill, Nolan Hill, Carrington), skim coating shows up as the Level 5 finish step for high-end builds and renovations where raking light from large windows or open-plan layouts demands a flawless ceiling.
